No one does twee like Latinamericans–– and no one does electropop like Javiera Mena! Starting in the early 2000s as an artist in the DIY scene in Santiago, she shifted the Latin pop landscape by trading traditional guitar ballads for a more sleek, analog-driven synth-pop and disco. She wrote, produced and recorded Esquemas Juveniles largely by herself at just 23 years old. The album still sounds like the diary of a young woman dreaming through a synthesizer and (two decades later) perfectly encapsulates the feeling of being in your twenties. Thank you Javiera <3
